Local:

• CHS hosted a Meet the Devils night last night at the CHS auditorium.. All the fall sports teams, cheerleaders, trainers as well as the Bell Street teams and cheerleaders were introduced.. It was a good crowd on hand and sorry you missed it..? Look below?for a couple of photos there from the event.?

Braves:

• The Braves made it 3 in a row as they took a 6-0 win over the Padres?down in Atlanta last night? Taking 3 of 4 from the Padres?gives the Braves puts the Braves 20 games over 500 with a 69-49 record.. ?The senior citizen of the Braves Chipper Jones went 2 for 4 but they?were both homeruns.. He had a 2 run shot in the 1^st and a solo shot in the 5^th.. Do you think they might talk him out or retiring.. By the way it Chipper Jones bobble head night.. Jason Heyward also had a good night going 3 for 4 with a homer.. Kris Medlin picked up the complete game win giving up only 5 hits while striking out 6 and walking none? The Braves remain at home for a weekend series with the Dodgers.?

Greenville Drive:

• The Drive went up to Ashville last night to start a 4 game series with the Tourist and the Drive took a 10-5 victory breaking a 7 game losing streak.. The Drive?s left fielder Keury?De La Cruz ?provided most of the offense as he went 3 for 5 with 2 homeruns driving in 7 runs.. The drive remain up in the mountains for the rest of the weekend.?

NFL:

• The Atlanta Falcons hosted the Cincinnati Bengals in preseason action last night and the cats plucked a few feathers and came away with a 24-19 victory.
• The Carolina Panthers have their 2^nd preseason game tonight as they host the Miami Dolphins in action starting at 8 pm.. Chanel 7 is scheduled to carry the game.?

This & That:

• I want to take this opportunity to wish Coach Tyler Vanhook?and the Laurens Academy Crusaders good luck tonight as they start their season tonight up in Spartanburg at Oakbrook Prep.. This is Coach Vanhook?s 1^st game as a head coach and the 1^st time the Crusaders have had anybody but Coach Todd Kirk as the head coach.. The action starts at 6:30.. For those of you with GPS devices, the physical address is 190 Lincoln School Road ? Spartanburg, SC 29301
• I want to remind you that today is the last day to register the Laurens YMCA Sprint Triathlon without a late fee.. The event is being held 1 week from tomorrow out at Lake Rabon.. You need to get by the Y today or you can register online.. For information about registering online or more information about the event itself, check out a posting I have at www.wlbg.com in the ?Between the Lines? section under the sports tab.
• Also don?t forget that tomorrow is the last day to register your child between the ages of 5-12 for cheerleading with the City of Laurens Parks and Recreation Dept.. Registration is today and tomorrow at the rec. office down at the Little River Park during their normal business hours.?

And finally, its only 7 days until the start of high school football season on August 24^th when Laurens host? BHP and Clinton host Gaffney.?
